How UV drinking water treatment works

UV disinfection works by exposing waterborne pathogens to high-intensity ultraviolet light, which damages their DNA and RNA, preventing reproduction and effectively rendering them harmless. This process provides immediate disinfection without chemicals, residuals, or by-products.

Sizing your system

The appropriate UV system depends on your water source, quality, and required flow rate. The table below shows maximum flow capacities for different models based on water transmittance (T10) values. Transmittance measures how effectively UV light passes through your water – higher values indicate better water quality.

This chart refers to connection sizes in BSP inches. T10 in % refers to the quality of the water and how much UV light gets through a 10mm sample. The bisecting number is the maximum flow rate of the unit in m³/hour.
